It will allow me to apply lessons learned from intellectual history. It will build on the quantitative analysis skills I develop with my data analytics minor. Lastly, it will provide a further outlet for my study of economics this past year, blending it with my interest in policy. The PPRS program aligns with my interest in a professional career at the intersection of policy and law – sectors, which together, have immense capacity to promote positive change.
Why Public Policy?
My interest in public policy, and its connection to promoting equity, was crystallized during my junior year research paper about the 1960s’ Civil Rights Movement. I learned that advancing societal change requires many factors to work in tandem: legal groundwork, social consciousness, effective policies and strong leadership.
