Federal Trade Commission
The Division of Financial Practices, in the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, is looking for a motivated college intern for a rewarding summer opportunity.
DFP brings cases and works on policy projects across a variety of critical financial areas, including mobile and financial technology, debt collection, auto sales and financing, debt relief, and student loans and education. For example, in recent years, DFP:
- cracked down on student loan debt relief scammers in “Operation Game of Loans,” a coordinated federal-state law enforcement initiative,
- obtained nearly $20 million in refunds for Uber drivers who the FTC alleged were misled about how much money they could make, and
- brought law enforcement actions against Google, Apple, and Amazon for millions of dollars in unauthorized charges in kids’ apps.
If selected, you’d contribute to our enforcement actions, conduct policy research, and complete other projects. Your specific projects could include interviewing and obtaining statements from consumers who have been victims of scams, researching case law, and helping case teams in litigation.
This internship comes with funding from Wharton PPI. Once you hear back from the organization with an offer, please fill out the funding application form here: http://bit.ly/InternshipFunding
