The Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) is the principal advisor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on policy development, and is responsible for major activities in policy coordination, legislation development, strategic planning, policy research, evaluation, and economic analysis. The ASPE Office of Health Policy is seeking interns for the summer of 2018, to assist with health care research projects. Topics include prescription drug pricing, financing, affordability, and access; health care payment and delivery system reform; individual and small group insurance markets; patient-centered outcomes research, health information technology, the health care safety net, and vulnerable populations.
Students must have a demonstrated interest in public policy, preferably health care policy in particular. Other qualifications include strong communication skills, both written and oral, as well as analytical research skills (quantitative and/or qualitative).
