“The Public Policy Research Scholars program bridges my interests in healthcare and business.
Ultimately, I want to start my own healthcare management company and provide quality healthcare to communities in need.”
What do you want to do in the future?
“I have also thought about working at the World Health Organization, the FDA, or health-related NGOs and non-profits. Though I am still unsure of my exact plans, I know that having a strong policy background is essential.”
Summer Internship Experience
Housed under the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Management, the Office of Strategic Planning and Performance Improvement (OSPPI) strives to improve the operations of the U.S. Treasury in three areas: organizational performance management, consultative services, and continuous process improvement. Essentially, OSPPI is an “internal consultant” for Treasury. During her internship with OSPPI, Emily gained diverse experience. She developed recommendations to improve Treasury’s performance data quality, helped to re-design the Treasury employee off-boarding process, and advised the Secretary of the Treasury on the new design of the ten-dollar bill. Not only did Emily have a fruitful internship experience, she discovered how to better integrate her interests in healthcare policy and management.
